IDLES SAMARITANS

Following on from last month's 'Danny Nedelko', which challenged negative attitudes towards immigrants, IDLES continue to master the art of intelligent, politically-charged punk with a thunderous new cut that examines male emotions and society's frankly unhealthy ingrained views about what it means to be a man. 'Samaritans' sees singer Joe Talbot spitting catchphrases like "man up" and "grow some balls" that contribute to the constant trivialisation of toxic masculinity in everyday life, calling them out in such a way that exposes these comments for what they really are - harmful and degrading. Backed up by IDLES' continually sharp guitar parts, pounding bass and clattering drums, 'Samaritans' is another fantastic cut from the band's upcoming second album Joy as an Act of Resistance. Pre-order it here now. -Holly Mullineaux
